Multimedia is the biggest big data nowadays. It is serving as the most important and valuable source for insights and information. Exploring semantics from multimedia big data is thus an effective way to understanding the world. Intelligent multimedia computing has long been an active research field, with the goal to derive automatic methods for generating semantic descriptions and annotations of multimedia contents, so as to enable creative and interactive applications. In this talk, we will present an overview of research topics in intelligent multimedia computing as well as recent advances in the technological developments. Meanwhile, several application scenarios and the demonstrative prototypes developed in our lab will be showcased.
